How to Prescribe an RX

rx

1. Use your own EMR prescribing module to send an ERx:

Find our pharmacy in your system using the following information:

PURAMINT
NPI: 1790380830
NCPDP: 3473066

Phone:  (984) 302-3001 or (855) 787-6468

Address:  9305 Leesville Rd STE 101 Raleigh, NC 27613

There are a few things you need to make sure to include when e-scribing a compounded medication:

A.  For a non-controlled medication:

Use any of the active ingredients as the Medication/Drug Name to be prescribed such as:  Diclofenac Sodium Bulk Powder,  Lidocaine HCl Compounding Powder, etc.

Provide the appropriate compound information showing all of the ingredients and their individual concentrations in the Message, Notes to the Pharmacy, or SIG/Directions field (if they fit along with the instructions).  Be sure to also indicate the specific directions for use.

Add appropriate refills and other Rx data points

B.  For controlled/scheduled medications:

It is important to select the controlled substance as the Medication/Drug Name to be prescribed because this is what will code the prescription appropriately as a controlled substance to allow it to be sent electronically.

These would include: Ketamine HCl Bulk/Compounding Power, Testosterone Bulk/Compounding Powder, Diazepam Bulk/Compounding Powder,  etc.

Make sure to provide the appropriate compound information showing all of the ingredients and their individual concentrations in the Message, Notes to the Pharmacy, or SIG/Directions field (if they fit along with the instructions).  Be sure to also indicate the specific directions for use

It is imperative that all of the following: Directions, Ingredient Names and Strength of Active Ingredients, Quantity of Medication, and dosage form be present.

It also allows for prescription tracking information for each patient showing what they have been prescribed by your practice in the past helping you to adjust therapies as necessary.

You can also quickly authorize refills and check patient adherence.
